Prepper Shows/Expos

by Pappy Canoli

Pappy’s Ramblings

Hello, and welcome to another  of my ramble’s

Recently, I was able to attend with my wife, our first Prepper Expo by NPS EXPO and sponsor Mountain House.  I have read articles and listened to podcasts about Prepper Shows/Expos and the people, exhibitors you meet there.

I was not disappointed.

As soon as I walked in, I immediately felt at ease.  I no longer felt like the proverbial fish out of water.  It seemed everyone was feeling a sense of ease as we mingled with like-minded people.  So many exhibitors, speakers, and demonstrations to participate in.

A great source to find a show near you is Prepper Shows USA

So, Let’s talk about the show….shall we?

Welcome to The House of “B”

You might be sitting there, wondering what the hell you’re listening to here.     Well, let me tell you a bit about that.

The House of B is a place where you can come to get a different flavor on the world of prepping. The Liberty Chronicles is a three book series that begins more of a political fiction with I Overthrew The Government and This Is How I Did It continuing with The Freedom Fighters that slowly transitions to more of a post-apocalyptic by the end of the third book. I try to incorporate prepping ideas and concepts into the story because I happen to believe that one can use works of fiction to better educate people about the reality of the world we live in… and how easily it can come crumbling down. Continue reading Welcome to The House of “B”

Addiction Post SHTF

It’s interesting to note that addictions come in many forms it is not only drugs or alcohol the people are addicted to.  I am not wanting to climb up on a soapbox but sometimes we look at things and we don’t realize that they consume far too much of our time.  I could give you a giant list of these… Facebook, food, cigarettes, porn and even coffee. I’d like to examine a few of these and offer not only insight into them but also links to assist my fellow preppers. Continue reading Addiction Post SHTF

Prepping the Farmer to Prep the Farm

A post by B. C. Lauer

People talk about prepping all the time. Get your basics, food, water, shelter and you’re good, right? This may be true for the short-term cases, but in the interest of making it for the long haul, there are other things that must be accounted for, especially for those of us that live on a farm. Even if you don’t, it is still something to consider as you may have skills that could prove mutually beneficial to a farmer friend of yours. Continue reading Prepping the Farmer to Prep the Farm

6 Survival Skills for Bugging In and Out

A post by Dan Sullivan:

The topic of survival skills is a big one. There’re literally hundreds you can learn and become good at that will help you survive. From filtering water to homesteading to raising animals to making primitive tools and weapons, their number and complexity may seem intimidating. Ideally, you should get each family member to specialize in a few of them so you’re always covered no matter what happens… but some of them are too important not to have everybody learn them. Ways to decide… Friend or Foe?

I posed a question on my Facebook asking…”What should I talk on?”  There were a few responses but the thing that got some great conversation going was a reply…”How to form friendships or greet people after the collapse.”  Funny thing was this morphed into a conversation about defenses. Saving with Co-ops and buying clubs

Saving with Co-ops and buying clubs

11-3-15 buy-in-bulkLast week on Surviving Dystopia we talked about pinching pennies and ways to save with projects aimed at reducing the costs of some of the things we need.  Another way to save money and make those pennies last is to buy in bulk.  If in the long run you can reduce the expenses of your household wouldn’t this be something you would choose to do?

11-3-15 foosdBuying items in bulk can be a fantastic way to save a few pennies but we also need to remember these things must be stored.  When buying in bulk a few things need some special care, for example; Perishible items.  Taking care to establish safe methods of storage for such items is critical, so you can be sure you are saving those extra pennies.
