Hello, and welcome to another of my ramble’s
Recently, I was able to attend with my wife, our first Prepper Expo by NPS EXPO and sponsor Mountain House. I have read articles and listened to podcasts about Prepper Shows/Expos and the people, exhibitors you meet there.
I was not disappointed.
As soon as I walked in, I immediately felt at ease. I no longer felt like the proverbial fish out of water. It seemed everyone was feeling a sense of ease as we mingled with like-minded people. So many exhibitors, speakers, and demonstrations to participate in.
A great source to find a show near you is Prepper Shows USA
So, Let’s talk about the show….shall we?

One of the best things about catching fish is enjoying top quality, fresh meat! Few meals are more appreciated than a fish plucked straight from the water; and when it comes to preparing the catch, one rule stands the test of time – the simpler the better. Continue reading Cooking Fish Off the Grid
You might be sitting there, wondering what the hell you’re listening to here. Well, let me tell you a bit about that.
The House of B is a place where you can come to get a different flavor on the world of prepping. The Liberty Chronicles is a three book series that begins more of a political fiction with I Overthrew The Government and This Is How I Did It continuing with The Freedom Fighters that slowly transitions to more of a post-apocalyptic by the end of the third book. I try to incorporate prepping ideas and concepts into the story because I happen to believe that one can use works of fiction to better educate people about the reality of the world we live in… and how easily it can come crumbling down. Continue reading Welcome to The House of “B”
Both of these terms are decidedly “Prepper” terms, but have we ever really considered the true meanings of these? The differences and implications of each, and should we be equally concerned about both of them? First thing is first, let’s talk a little bit about what each of these terms means to you. A post by Dan Sullivan:
The topic of survival skills is a big one. There’re literally hundreds you can learn and become good at that will help you survive. From filtering water to homesteading to raising animals to making primitive tools and weapons, their number and complexity may seem intimidating. Ideally, you should get each family member to specialize in a few of them so you’re always covered no matter what happens… but some of them are too important not to have everybody learn them. 8 Things That Are Worth More than Anything in a Disaster
If you’re looking to stockpile, you’ve probably taken into account several factors in order to decide what should be on your survival shopping list. By looking at recent events across the globe or even the ones in the US (remember Katrina), it’s easy to notice which items people would have given all their money and possessions for in exchange for hydrating themselves, feeding their children or… Continue reading 8 Things That Are Worth More than Anything in a Disaster
I mean really, What are you gonna do??
I’m on facebook and other social media sites like most and all I can see is Paris and Cat videos. On the news I watched as the events in Paris unfolded live, just like they did on 9/11. We all sit mouths agape and in shock at the horrific things we see. Seriously? Are you really that surprised? Continue reading What R ya gonna Do???
Clean water could be Liquid Gold!
This week on Surviving Dystopia radio show I was pleased to welcome Russ Michaud from Homespun Environmental as a guest to talk to us about some of the icky things that can be found in the water you and your family uses and what we can do about them. Whether you’re at home or out on that family outing here’s a cost effective solution to keep the thirst away without the worries of making yourself sick… or worse. Saving with Co-ops and buying clubs
Last week on Surviving Dystopia we talked about pinching pennies and ways to save with projects aimed at reducing the costs of some of the things we need. Another way to save money and make those pennies last is to buy in bulk. If in the long run you can reduce the expenses of your household wouldn’t this be something you would choose to do?
Buying items in bulk can be a fantastic way to save a few pennies but we also need to remember these things must be stored. When buying in bulk a few things need some special care, for example; Perishible items. Taking care to establish safe methods of storage for such items is critical, so you can be sure you are saving those extra pennies. Continue reading Saving with Co-ops and buying clubs
